I bought the UClear HBC200 today. It was on sale at Cycle Gear for $399.00. This is the dual set. Also, since I was military, received an additional 10% off and got it for $359.99. I have to charge it up, but I will let you know how it sounds after some riding this weekend.
How did they work? Do you use a helmet, and if you do what kind. Full face or half?
Our riding club is now using these units, the new HBC 200. All our testing has shown them to be great. They do everything that they claim to do. Because they daisy chain, the distance from front bike to back can get stretched out quite far with no problems but you must keep pairing order in mind, they are a computer type bluetooth communication system, they are NOT radios. Boomless mic works fantastic and music and phone calls from a paired phone etc works perfectly.
We are using full, half and 3/4 helmets. It takes a bit of work to mount the speakers / mic units in the ear muff of the half helmets but it can be done, and works well, even at highway speeds. The mics do a great job of filtering out wind and engine noise.

You would probably have to buy those ear muff things that go into the opening of the straps, right? I think I thru mine away when i bought the helmet.
Do these devices have jcaks so ear buds can be used for the speakers?
No, these units don't have jacks for ear buds. Keep in mind that the mics are built into the speakers. One of our riders alway used ear buds to listen to her music. Now that she has the speakers mounted in her helmet she says there is no more need for the ear buds, her music is great. Some of us use foam ear plugs and so far there is no problem hearing, we just bump the volume up one notch if necessary. The UClear system auto adjusts volume and it mostly works out fine.
Just started playing with a pair of the HBC200s. My wife and I use half helmets and have tried them without using speaker pockets. In all honesty, I had to turn them off. There was so much noise and voice delay it was painful. I would hear her voice from behind me and then through the speakers with a slight lag. Hopefully in the next couple weeks I can try them again using the speaker pockets. I suspect the speaker pockets will improve the noise level, but I don't see them improving the voice delay problem.
If anyone has any suggestions on improving how they operate I would welcome the advice.

You mentioned one of your riders listens to her music through the UClear. Is she happy with the sound? I have to have my tunes playing, and wouldn't want the music to sound tinny. I would be using a half helmet.
Any specifics on music would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

She is very happy with the sound, says the UClear are worth the money just for the music sound even if you never use them for communications. However, she is wearing a full face helmet so your experience might be different. Our riders with half helmets have reported that IF the speaker mounted in a half helmet ear muff gets too far away from their ear, then they can't hear that speaker. Speaker mounting in half helmets can be a problem.
