Default Question regarding Fuel Moto headers

Anyone here have a Fuel Moto header on their MC? How do you like it? Do you know what gauge steel it is made from? It seems most aftermarket headers are 16g steel but FM web site doesnt specify in their description.
Thanks

I have one. Stainless and not ceramic coated. Didn't want to wait. I like it very much. More robust exhaust collar when compared to stock.

The header does a good job of equalizing the exhaust gas flow between the left and right muffler. For instance, with the stock header, I measured exhaust gas velocity, at idle, from the right at 19 mph and from the left pipe at 9 mph. Installing the FM header, using the exact same mufflers, the exhaust flow on the right increased to 29 mph and the left increased to 23 mph. Measurements made with a digital anemometer at 6" from end of muffler.

I can't speak to the gauge of the steel. But the welds are first class and it's obvious this is a quality piece of work from a fit, finish, and design perspective.

Just put on some their stainless steel. Fit is great and eliminated a bunch of heat. Didn't really care about the gauge.

Why do you ask? Is it regarding weight or are wondering about longevity? FM's header is stainless steel, it's not going to rust away anytime soon like regular old steel.

I have narrowed my choice to the F/M header and another brand header and I like to know all specs before I decide.

I have 5000to miles on my stainless steel FM header. I thought the quality was excellent, it fit perfect, produces more sound overnthe stock head pipe and runs cooler (the ceramic coated will be even cooler). I have been very pleased with the service from FM....they are easy to talk to and always seem to have time to address your questions and concerns. If I'm not mistaking, FM offers a lifetime warranty on their header. Not trying to persuade either way....just thought I'd share my positive experience with them.

I appreciate that. I dont doubt the quality. When you got your F/M head pipes did you have to use your existing heat shields? That would be an issue with me because mine look a bit tired.

They do not come with heat shields. You would have to use your own or purchase a set...I may have some now that I think about it. I don't think I used the stock ones on my Vance and Hines. All things being equal by the way, the Fuel Moto header is much better made that my Vance and Hines...
