No issues with mine due to low miles on it when I got it. You should probably check chain tensioning maybe even upgrade to gears eliminating that problem. While doing that could have the cams upgraded since you would be half way into the job anyway. I got mine last year for 11 grand with only 2k miles on it. Pics in my garage. 03 was best anni year as far as paint scheme goes and nothing like a reliable 88!

Love my '03 Road King. I've got 35k on it runs perfect!! At 30k I changed the cams to gear drive (s&s 510g) best upgrade I've done, no more tensioners to worry about.......great year for Harley, just make sure you check the tensioners. Here's a pic of mine:
