Default Throttle cable

Yesterday as I was adding new trinkets to my 99 EG Standard I noticed as I was changing the switches my rear throttle cable is fraying. Is this a easy job or should I let my wrench do it? I am experienced at working on race cars but this is my first touring HD and have limited experience working on them, I did successfully change out my switches from black to chrome lol

Thanks

Hardest part of the job would be to remove the front fairing.

If you've got that kind of experience this will be right up your alley and it will only ensure its done right. The more you know about the intricacies of your bike the better off you will be in the long run.

So the front faring has to be removed?

Yes. Also the tank. Then you can access the cable for removal and install. Just be sure upon reassembly that you do not pinch or bind the cables.

You may be able to do it w/o removing the tank...we changed one on my one of our riders on the side of the road...Didn't have to take the tank off , the fairing was a aftermarket one so maybe a bit different.
Fairing is the easy part...Everybody that has a bike with a fairing should at least know how to remover it....Basic stuff...

I should have stated the fairing was the time consuming part.

I just found and read the instructions on throttle replacement for my bike, 99 EG Standard, it does not say anything about having to take the faring off or the tank. Could mine be different since most of you guys have newer bikes?

I suppose you can try and fish the cable through but alot easier with the fairing off.

You only need to pull the front half and the headlight pretty easy to do.
