Unhappy Rain and Windshields

I have seen wind and windshield questions but not about rain and windshields.

I own a 2008 Electra Glide Ultra that had a 12" stock windshield. I cut the windshield down one inch and it works for me just fine. Problem is when it rains lightly, I get hit across the eyes, not like the 12" tall stock that pushed the rain above my head. When it is raining hard, I have a realy hard time seeing and I need to pull over. Also, I use perscription eye ware.

My question is, if I want to replace my stock windshield for a long ride( several days to two weeks) what aftermarket windshield will work the best for rain or should I just go back the the 12" stock from H-D?

I think Long Ride Shields has one specifically for rain. Check them out.

I have an LRS on my Road King and it makes a world of difference in the rain.

Sometimes you have to tuck in behind your windshield a bit to avoid some of the rain, especially if it's raining hard. But as you've found, you will cannot avoid all of it.
I've tried nearly all of the windshield types and found none of them to be a perfect cure. I went back to a non re-curve shield that I can see over. I also use Global Vision Convertible glasses with a clear lens in the rain. They are the best I've found for wind and rain protection.
I also use prescription lenses (they help me read road signs from farther away) but I can see well enough without them to ride in the rain.

A recurve windshield just short enough to see over, yet still directs the wind and rain over my head is what worked for me. I never rode with a windshield before I got my Ultra, so for me. the less windshield the better. Another big thing for me is it moved the edge of the windshield out of my direct line of sight, which I found very disconcerting.

klock works windshield is the best buy I did ever, just under my line of sight.
Wouldn't change for anything else.

The Fast Aire Aero windshield has a thermo applied hard coating that helps in dispersing rain. However, no coating will eliminate the mist droplets that swirl around the bike & collect on the inside the windshield. This often is a bigger problem than the rain hitting the front.

Any windshield at the right hight will help with the rain.
