Guy I work with used to ride a '05 UC and recently gave up the bike. His OL made him buy a new cage for her, won't say more about my attitude about this but anyway, we got to talking about HD and all of sudden he starts bitchin' about how HD hasn't done anything to improve their bikes. Says that HD is behind the times with air-cooled engines and belt drive. SOB thought he had a right to bitch about HD now that he no longer rides. All I could say to him is that they (HD) must be doing something right because there are still a hell of a lot of us still lovin' em and ridin' em. Guess he couldn't take out his anger on his OL for making him get rid of his bike, she would probably kick his *** anyway, so now he wants to put HD down. Say what you want, but if you are going to bitch about HD in general, don't do it around me!
Really? Seriously? Your going to waste your time posting this kinda shat?
There is nothing wrong with air-cooling as long as is works, and it does. I have had water-cooling before and found it to be a PITA. It was an extra thing to worry about and it leaked. I have also had chain and shaft drive. Gimme the belt!! So much for that....

Exactly! I had water-cooled shaft driven bikes in the past and they were running as hot as my Ultra, I had coolant leaks and the sound of the fan drove me nuts.
Shaft tranny was clunkier and it was also a power hog.
Obiviously frustrated. Remember, there are only two kinds of riders...those who ride a Harley, and those who want one.
I have to disagree on that. I love my Road King, but I also ride a yamaha FJR and love it also. If money got tight and one of them had to go it would be a hard decision for me which one to sell.

Cooling I could go either way, but I actually prefer liquid. The Road King hasn't had a problem so I can't complain, but if I was going somewhere and knew I was going to get stuck in a traffic jam in 100+ degree heat I would take the yamaha. The Road King probably wouldn't overheat, but I know the yamaha won't. Either way my legs get hot, just in different areas.
Now my girlfriend's 250 Ninja on the other hand, you would swear there's ice in the radiator. When she was learning to ride it the bike would run for hours on end never getting over 10mph, and it never even came close to overheating. Granted it's only a 250, but still they did something right building that bike.
