I get that on my hotrodded EVO, but it's an EVO with a high flow carb and true duals. You should be getting 45-ish unless you've upgraded. You should be getting 28-ish on your reserve (all scooters are a little different though).
My '02 RKC would get 37-38 mpg on the highway. Mine was a 95" with cams, stage 2 heads and a conservatively rich tune. Your mpg seems pretty normal to me. High 30's to low 40's is the normal range for most TC88's with a 5 speed trans.
When your reserve light comes on, you typically have about 1 gallon of gas left in your 5 gallon tank.
Like equandt said you have "about 1 gallon left" actually .9 of a gallon, but all the .9 doesn't always syphon out of your tank (each bike is slightly different).
02 Ultra Classic - stock/EFI. I am getting around 37 MPG. Is this in the normal ball park? Seems a bit low.
For city riding 37mpg would be about right, IMO. For highway, no--unless you're going 80mph or more or in a very strong headwind.
Also - when the fuel light comes on how much longer do I have?
That would vary from bike to bike. Your bike holds ~5.2 gal. (Harley spec is 5.0), so the next time your light comes on immediately fill it as your usually do. Subtract 5.2 from the amount you put in and you'll get an idea. To be safe, use 5.0 for the first number instead.
Maybe depending on riding habit and status of plugs and air filter. With my setup I average 45 in town. Just completed a 500 mile mountain trip and averaged 59 mpg! Advice - get a tuner with AT ! If you do consider getting one that is not married to your ECU.
2002 FLHT carbed. Vance and Hines pro pipe and SE intake. Other than that stock. Just went 1000 miles this weekend. The buddies I was with ride a little fast. We were about 10 to 15 above the speed limit. Usually around 80. In the hills I got pretty bad, around 32 mpg. Didn't take it easy at all in the hills. Interstate around 43 mpg. Not bad.
