Default Compression Release Stuck

The compression release on my rear cylinder is stuck in the down position. Any ideas what to do? Is there a way to free it, or do I need to replace it?

Manual or electric? Buddy has the manual style. When one starts acting up he'll take it out and clean it using brake clean.
This will get him by for a while, but he'll end up buying amother one.

MareRider asked the same question I was going to ask, manual ones can be cleaned, if it's electric, replace it.

It's manual. I'll pull it and see what's what.

Spray penetrating oil on it should do the trick without pulling it out.

WD40 works. On the other hand, the S&S EZ start cam doesn't need CRs.

Soak it in a spray paint can lid that has a good penetrating oil in it like PB Blaster or Kroil. Use an ld tooth brush to remove built up carbon. The other one is prolly next.

Had SE MCR's for 1st 30,000 miles. Never cleaned them until I started having issues and by then if was a short term solution. Bought a set of Wood's which I like much better and am doing a PM cleaning at every service (5K) and hope this makes a difference. Spray them down with carb cleaner, then soak in same for about an hour.
