I bought a 2008 Ultra and it had lo jack installed. I brought the bike home and anytime the bike moved around without the little fob near the bike, the guy that sold it got a call or text or some notification. I wasn't about to pay the monitoring, so I dug around and found it and ripped it off the bike. Plus, I don't like someone potentially knowing where I'm at. Know what I mean?

Chain a crazy mad pit bull to your bike each night, or invest in the LoJack with the "early warning" option. I think it will give you what you are looking for in terms of added security and some peace of mind. Cheers!

Local construction company had one of their small excavators stolen(will fit on a tandem trailer and towed by 1 ton dually type p/u)
Anyways, the company called them and told them equipment was on the move and the direction it is headed.
Location where it stopped etc... The RCMP where called and the owner met them at the location, problem was that the equipment was in the workshop attached to the residence.
Because the police could not actually see the excavator there was little they could do at the time, eventually a neighbor who was nosy comes out from across the street and starts asking questions, then mentions that there was a new piece of equipment that was moved into the shop.
Enough info for the police to act upon...
Long story short the guys got the equipment back , but not before the summer student was asked to go and drive the excavator out of the building and not before ripping the shop and the inside of the building to siht and the Cop freaking out over the extra paper work that was now being added to his file.
True Story I siht you not.
Is this type of security for you, maybe , but make sure the local LEO support the technology and officers to track it down.
Here in Canada they don't offer the police response...at least in my neck of the woods.

I don't want my bike back once someone else has it. Just my opinion.

No lo-jack, but got my '71 FLH back after being stolen in Oceanside, CA. They ran it out of gas and parked it on the side of the freeway ! NO DAMAGE. Sometimes you get lucky, but not often.

If my bike ever got stolen I wouldn't want it back. Within 24 hours they would either wreck it, blow the motor or chop it up, or at the very least do a fast and shitty job of painting it a different color. Even if I did get it back in one piece it would probably never run right again. But that's not to say I wouldn't want to find the person who stole it! No, I'd rather just take the insurance money, pay an extra couple grand and get a new bike.

Which is exactly what I did.

There is no monitoring fee with LoJack. It's a one time fee, there is possibly an owner transfer fee with the early warning system but I don't know for sure. Otherwise, it is a passive device, only activated when the bike is stolen.
