Default Upgrade Question

I need replace the Cam tensioners on my 2001 TC88 engine. I thought I would either go with can drive or SE upgrade. Do you if a company sales a cam upgrade kit that include all I need to do this project? I looked at Andrews cams but did not see a "kit" per Se. Any help along these lines would be apprciated.

Thanks

It's unlikely you will find a single kit to provide everything you want in one box. If you buy an SE kit you will need to buy extra parts to suit your model year. Also Andrews are not the only brand of cams out there. If you plan on fitting it yourself the simplest thing to do is to find a dealer or indy who will sell you all the parts you need. If you want someone else to install it ask them to supply and fit.

Hey thanks Skully. Went by my HD dealer and they want $1015.00 to install the SE Upgrade kit for the hydraulic tensioners and another $300 for cams

Call Jamie at Fuel Moto. He will answer all your questions and sell you all the parts you need to upgrade. I went with the TW6-6R cams and converted to hydraulic tensioners.......

If you have a little mechanical aptitude, it's really not a hard job. I did mine over the winter last year and actually enjoyed the experience. It gave me a better understanding of what's going on inside my engine. Lots of good info on here if you feel like tackling the job. Search for Atrain's cam write up. Very helpful.

had a local indi install the SE hydraulic cam chain tensioner kit with the high pressure oil pump. He suggested putting a mild set of cams in, S&S 551s I think (dont hold me on that) Bike now sounds like a harley should at idle, has better response in the higher gears and actually runs a bit cooler. I'm a decent wrench, but chose to leave this one to the pros. Very satisfied.

I went to a local custom chopper shop and can have it done for $800 and that includes the cams! I'm taking it to them on Tuesday! I would tackle the job myself however, I live in a condo and don't have any real place to do the work myself.

Thanks for all the help!
