Need some opinions/experiences. I traded in a SG for a car, and now I miss my H-D. I've owned a Road glide and a Street Glide. I'm gonna get a 2013 MY Touring Bike.
I'm thinking I may want a Road King this time. My logic/thoughts is that a RK will provide more options than a SG/RG. A RK allows the removal of the wind screen.
The RK has more corner clearance and an inch more suspension. The RK also offers hard bags, and it also has the adjustable air suspension. The only thing missing is the stereo on the RK. Honestly, the stereo is nice but I used to pay less attention to the road when I had the tunes playing... Am I rationalizing?
Has anyone here gone from a SG or RG to a Road King and regretted it?
You need to decide what type of riding your going to be doing and if the bike is a fit for you. Basic suspension and frames and engines are the same for all touring HDs only differenceid fairings, windshields and height of the rear end, SG and RGC use 12 in shocks all the rest use 13 in shocks so those models do have a slightly decreased lean angle.
I think the RK has a lot of versatility, cruiser, touring add a detachable fairing with a stereo and you have many choices. Although I did that with my Fatboy and ended up never removing the fairing that's why I changed to a RG for me it's great bike to take to the market or out for the weekend.
Each are fine bikes.... and most of the replies will be from folks telling you their bike is "the best"
but it's all BS.....
You, are the one forking over the hard cash.... sit on as many bikes as you can, to narrow down your selection, then RIDE the ones you like.
And if you can narrow it down, then rent one for a week end, and see how you feel after a few hours in the saddle.
I have a Road Glide.... I cruise in town, hit the curvy back roads, and chew up interstate miles with it...... but then again, I would do the same, on any bike....
I'd buy the StreetGlide but both are awesome. If you are a tall person the Road Glide gives you a little more stretch. I'm a batwing guy. No good reason, just am.
I went from fatboy to roadglide and am really pleased. You might as well get the roadking since you have tried the others and know what they're all about.
