Thanks guy's, I'm getting ready to replace my fork lowers with a chrome set and just want to make sure I have all of the tools I'll need to do the job instead of finding I need something else half way through.

Mine came off with a pair of channel locks. They were not all that tight. Wish I'd had the right tool for the job though.... great question.

I just did my lowers and cowbells this week. I went to Sears and bought a 1 3/8" socket (3/4" drive). Well if you do not remove the handlebars the socket and ratchet will not fit over the top the the nut. As the above post said, use a pair of channel locks. As for torque spec, use your calbrated arm. Good luck, the first side took me 3 hrs, the second side took me 45 minutes.
