Can anyone recommend a replacement speaker for a 2010 electra glide that won't break the bank? I don't need a competion audio setup but would like something better than the stock.
u can use any 5.25 inch 2 ohm car speaker or upgrade to a 6.5 with adapter rings,if your NOT using an amp look for the highest spl ratings.crutchfeild is a good resource for comparing different brands and models.
I have the boom audio in my fairing and I put a set in my lowers. No amp just stock radio and they sound really good. For the money I don't think you could do any better.
Install is very easy, Take front of fairing off, unplug stock speakers, remove, replace with Boom Audios plug in and put your fairing back together. 15-30 minutes. You will have no problems at all. They do crank pretty good, I have my volume set to the u in volume and I have had to turn it down.
The night I installed them I was in the driveway tuning them in and my wife was upstairs in the back of the house on the treadmill with her ipod on and she heard the Eagles cranking in the driveway. The past few times I have ridden the guys three bikes back said they could her my tunes.
Nice, my biggest complaint has been that most of the songs I listen to on my I-Pod suck when I try to turn it up loud enough to hear it on the highway.
I just installed a set of 5.25"s by Polk Audio. They were a marine-grade speaker that ran about $80 for the pair. Don't think you're gonna find them in 2 ohm impedance, though....but would be worth researching, because they were a serious upgrade over my old stock speakers.
