Batwing windsheild mounting bolts ?
Can anybody tell me what Torx bit size fit the mounting screws for the windshield mounting bolts T-25 or T-27?
Also I am going to install the slotted windshield fairing trim # 59133-99 the instructions say to torque the screws to 10 to 13 inch lbs which isn't very tight.
So do any of you use loctite for these screws to help keep them snug?

I dont use loktite on them.
I take them off once a month changing shields or getting behind the faring.
I'm just adamant about looking at every nut and bolt when washing or detailing.
Its a Harley is coming loose sooner or later.
That being said I lost my rubber ducky short antannea, must of vibrated loose?

I know the clear RTV silicone isn't safe for brass because of the acid it contains.
How do you know what is too tight?
The HD service manual gives a torque spec of 25 to 30 inch lbs for the windshield screws.
Is that too tight?

go gently.
Locktite needs heat to cure- and will sometimes stay gummy in an application like this.
I too swap windscreens alot- I cut the keyhole wider so that they slot in and out.
and tighten the screws lightly with a screwdriver...and they have been converted to phillips heads

All I can say is I've had My windshield off a few times and there did'nt appear to be any damage. Just cleaned off the old silcone and reapplied. Note: Do not use to much. Small amount on threads is all it takes
