I'm a bit under 5' 11" and never had that problem. Just about being conscious of what you are doing. BTW, love reading any thread that starts with something like oops.....

+1! I have been riding since I was 9 years old & always knew if my kickstand was down or not! Try concentrating or stop drinking! It works wonders!

Considering I had just gotten off duty from my 4-12 tour as a police officer, I can assure you that alcohol was not involved. I only WISH I had that excuse!

Another good reason/justification/rationalization for having the saddle bag guards.

I was riding with my ex one time. Came to a michigan left and was just gonna roll it threw the stop. Well I turned the front wheel and took a second look to see a truck coming off a side street, so I grabbed on the brakes and the bike shot to the left and wanted to go down. I let out a big grunt and pulled it back before it hit the ground, lets just say saving a 600lb bike with a 150lb girl on it made me a little sore it the am lol

Done it twice. Once sober when I pulled int toe garage the wife was standing there and started talking to me and I just sat there while she talked. When we were done with our conversation, I started to get off of the bike and realized the stand wasn't down. Thank God for the engine and bag guards.

The time I was not sober, well don't really remember just that I came into the garage the next morning and it wad on its side.

I've done it once when I was 18 and on a sportbike. Walked out to the garage, got on the bike and started it. I was putting my gloves and helmet on while the bike was warming up and I realized I forgot something in my apt. and also forgot I had put the kickstand up. Leaned it over to get off and over she started to go. I caught it and just layed it over and easily as I could. Then spent a couple min. figuring out how I was gonna get it back up, which I finally did. Luckily no scratches on the plastic, but I've kept that thought in my mind everyday since then.

I watched my mother in law put her kick stand on her sportster down right after she got it and didnt realize it wasnt all the way down, and over the bike went.

I'll never understand why the kickstand is designed the way it is.

I agree.... I usually try to look down and make sure it is locked between the tabs, but it still always feels like it could fall over at any moment...
