Default Oooops!

So I'm still getting used to my new Street Glide. The weight, the geometry, the riding position are all SO different than my Night Train. For example, I find that as I roll up to lights, my feet sometimes get caught on the boards because my size 12.5's were so used to pegs.

But last night as I was putting it away in my garage, I thought the jiffy stand was fully extended and began leaning the bike over... and it kept going. I went from relaxed to IMMEDIATELY into full weight-lifting mode. What made it funny was that my garage is surrounded by apartments and I was trying to be quiet as it was after midnight. I couldn't even grunt. But I saved her!

BIG learning curve here...

I put the stand down and push it forward and hold it with my foot as I lean it over. I too have to admit to dropping the bike.

Welcome to the crowd!!! Crash bars, or engine gaurds are a beautiful thing. Many will chime in with their stories of doing the same, sometimes some pretty good ones, stay tuned.

Yeah, these things are a good bit heavier than the other models and will make you grunt here and there if you aren't careful... hell, they'll do it even if you are careful. ESPECIALLY if you happen to have a passenger that wiggles just as you are coming to a stop...
I took the heel shifter off of mine to give me a bit more moving room on the floor boards with my big feet.

oh and I'll catch myself kicking the kick stand one more time before I lean it over every time

I know the feeling . I usually put my foot on the kickstand too and then lean it over but ine day when my buddy brought his SG over in the rain I just pushed my bike forward so his could get into the garage. So we're sitting there shooting the **** and he said to me .... should your kickstand be that far back. I don't know what magic took place but my bike literally was teetering for about 5 minutes and when I looked at it, it started to roll forward. I ran over and grabbed it just before she went down. I believe the Harley Gods smiled upon me that day! LOL!

After you have washed the bike, and you decide it would be easier to dry it by just riding around the neighborhood. When you bring it back in the garage to inspect it for water drops. Make sure you put the kickstand down BEFORE you get off.

Just sayin....

Now I hand dry it or use the leaf blower or both.

+1! I have been riding since I was 9 years old & always knew if my kickstand was down or not! Try concentrating or stop drinking! It works wonders! ................

Life is a learning curve......................
I don't know how short you are but people under 5' 11" seam to have trouble pushing the kick stand all the way forward.
