Default My experience with Windvest...

In early July I bought a Windvest windshield for my RGU. I received it about 10 days later. I immediately installed it on the bike and cleaned it. While cleaning it I noticed several scratches and a couple scuff marks on the front of the shield. Not sure, but I bet it happened in shipping.

I immediately communicated to the retailer - PowerSportsJunkie.com the issue and provided pictures. They agreed to replace it, well until the looked at the pictures of the shield with it installed on the bike. Then they refused to do anything stating after it was installed its used and non-returnable. Course my position was - it was received damaged and it isn't used, but a damaged product. The stand-off has continued and I filed a claim with my credit card company...

Meanwhile, since I figured I still needed a windshield I decided to go direct to Windvest this time. I then read on their website there is a 30 day return policy w/o restocking fees if you are just changing size i.e. you want another one. This pissed me off even more since the retailer's reason for not accepting the return was due to Windvest not accepting it after it was installed...

I decided to go direct to Windvest and discussed the issue with them. First I learn this was a common issue with this retailer. Second they told me to ship it to them and they would either fix it (OK my me or replace it.

Now that is customer service!

IMHO
If you can purchase from the manufactuer direct you are in better shape. Most will bend over backwards for you.

I have the Windvest and love it. They walked me through everything and even said. Listen if it does not work we will send you the next size and then return the wrong one in that box.

Well can't beat that logic.

Great service from the company IMO, too bad the retailer did not have the same attitude.

Same with me, I ordered a 12in shield for my RGU, it is a little too short, they are sending me a 13in with no restocking fee. So far very happy with Windvest customer service. I think I will be happy with the shield too, that would help. There I said it first.

Now that is customer service!

Not going to start a huge argument but figured I better tell the "retailers" side of the story. PhotoRider did contact us about the scratches on the windshield and said that he believes they occurred during shipping. We then offered to take the windshield back and refund him or replace the windshield. We sent PhotoRider an Return label and an RMA number to get the windshield back.

We don't get Windvest wind screens directly from Windvest. We get them from a Distributor, and per our distributor we CAN NOT send any used items back. We don't have a big enough call for Windvest windscreens to justify setting up direct. So when the customer asked if he could have a different size we informed him that the new size he wanted was on back order through our distributor. That is when PhotoRider informed us that he was going to run the original windscreen he received until the new one came in.

Thus making the item used and non returnable. So basically PhotoRider wanted us to loan him a windshield until the one he wanted came in from back order. PhotoRider then called his credit card company and said the merchandise was defective and filed a charge back against us. So now we are out the money and out the windshield. So basically PhotoRider got a free windshield at our expense.

Not trying to start a pissing contest but thought everybody should know the other side of the story.
