third times a charm
i have an 06 ultra. I started off with it stock for several years until the itch hit me for more power. I brought it to southampton harley in southampton ma. They installed a stage one with tru duals and a se racing tuner then a dyno. i went to pick bike up and noticed that the se pipes that I had were not back on the bike seems they didnt remember it having them on so battle one lost. They gave me a set a klock works or something. I didnt have proof so I was screwed , my fault. Ordered 3.5 rhineharts very happy with those.
Well the itch hit me again and I brought it to an RMW in northampton had a high flow oil pump,hq 34 gear drive cams and bored to a 95 cleaned up the heads and new valves put in.Pressure release valve just in case itch comes again. I rode that for some time and noticed a leak on back side of primary, brought it back to RMW and was told that he could take it apart and take a look ,but bike would be down for weeks, not good for me after giving him a few thousand over past two seasons. this is where the third time is a charm worked for me. I brought it to Monadnock Harley in swanzey nh.
They tore it down found out the race bearing was installed backwards and probably caused the leak and some gaskets were after market and not fitting properly which probably didnt help either they also noticed that the motor mount southampton harley did was installed upside down, now fixed.
After all was done and they did a dyno for me I now have 91 hp and 92lbs tq. I now have a strong running bike and am enjoying every moment of it. My hat is off to those guys in New Hampshire and they did all of it including the surprises for just a few bucks more than original quote. TGIF for I am gone riding for the weekend. I will be studying the shop manual and learning some more so I am aware of what is going on even if I cant do the work myself. Knowledge is power as they say.
