Thought that I read that the new 350 didn't play MP3's.

I was considering the 650.

But for $150 a refurb 550 might be the way to go.

Thanks Gents.

Just and update....

I contacted Garmin and were very helpful. It did take over a 1/2 hour on hold to speak to someone, but once I did they walked me through a few DIY fixes. None of them worked. My unit was out of warranty (over 5 years old).

Here were my options...

Purchase a new GPS. None of which have all the features that I want and spend $500+ or

Send Garmin $150 for a refurbished unit.

About 10 days later, I have my brand new looking refurbished Garmin.

So far works great and looks better than the once I sent them.

Thank you Garmin.

New Nuvi's are cheap......may not be water proof....but for the price....you can buy about three for the price of a zumo. Not sure if any new Garmins play MP3 anymore. My Zumo 660 quits playing MP3 when it gets hot, which is after ten minutes here in Florida.
My luck with Nuvis was always pretty good....even IN rain.

When you get a refurbished unit does it come with new maps or do you have to do that when you get it back?

I've had the Nuvi 760 for a couple of years and am happy with it. While it's not rated as a motorcycle unit I've had no problems with vibration or heat. I just carry a zip lock bag for when it rains. (I have a windshield so it would probably only get wet when I stop.) I don't listen to music while riding so don't use that function, although it does have the blue tooth capability.

I am not sure. I'll have to hook it up to my mac and check to see if updates are available.

You will have to download the Garmin lifetime updater to your PC. Once you do that and register the GPS it will tell you if new maps or software are available. After that you will get a notification on your PC that new map updates are available.
