Radio & CB woes
I have a 91 Ultra Classic that is still going strong mechanically, electrically it needs some TLC. I want to replace the non working original sound system and CB. Any suggestions on how best to accomplish this? When I stored it last winter, after reconnecting the battery this spring the radio has stopped working.
Any suggestions on replacements options and vendors?

You might be able to find a working stock radio to replace yours with, this would keep your speed-sensitive volume and handlebar controls. You might be able to talk biketronics into making one of their older handlebar control wiring kits to go with one of their aftermarket head units, but you'll lose the CB and the speed volume. This will be expensive, too, like around $500. Another option is to remove the enitre stock setup and replace it with aftermarket stuff, but again you'll lose the CB, handlebar controls and speed volume. Plus CD head units rarely work right on a harley, the CD's skip from the vibrations. Removable face-plate radios also end up developing problems down the road with dust, dirt and vibrations ruining the contacts on the face-plate, causing them to cut out.
HERE is a pretty good thread over in the Evo forum about radio upgrading in the older bikes. Check it out and read every post, there is a lot of good info in there.
Good luck and welcome to the forums!
