Default 21 inch front

Have a 2009 Ultra Glide and whaqt to install a 21 inch front. What all is involved in doing this? By reading up on 23 inch fronts it appears you need to change tripple tree and rake front end for it to be done right. Do you need to do the same for a 21?

That blue menu bar up there has a search option. You can even go advanced and narrow your search to touring bikes. There are MANY threads on this subject.

Welcome to the forum! There is a lot of good information and good people in this forum.

You won't really get a clear answer, you've gotta take everyone's experiences, put'em together, and roll the dice. It kinda why it's called research. It takes time.

Most people who get 21's use a 120 front tire and lower the front suspension 1". This leaves the front a quarter of an inch higher than it was stock which most don't think is an issue. Lots of opinions, lots of choices, lots of trade offs. Can't really enlighten you much more without writing an extremely lengthy post. Do the research, and read through all the pages. You'll understand what I'm saying.

You just have to drill the fender rear mounting holes to 3/8 and everything will be fine.

It's just a swap but if you can go directly to 23" (triple trees) or 26" (triple trees and cutting neck for 26").

Nothing to it. like already said, you may have to wallow out the rear fender holes. I didn't do it and didn't rub, but I only rode around for about a week before getting a new fender

I will be going with a new wrap around front fender at the same time, along with rear rim and tire, rear fender and stretched bags.

The most popular front wheel and tire combination we sell for the baggers is the 21 x 3.25" or 21 x 3.5" with the 120/70-21 tire. You do not need to rake the bike and if you are going to use a wrap style fender you do not need to worry about rubbing. You do not need to lower the front end but IMHO the bikes will handle a little bit better if you lower 1" with either a Progressive lower spring kit or their Monotube lowered kit. Here is a link below showing hundreds of baggers with different custom wheels so you can see how the 21" style looks.
