I wear a half helmet but i also tried my full face. i think the full face was even worse.
I am 5'8", on my 09 SG (stock screen) and I am using the adjustable wind deflectors, and also added the small deflector that mounts to the lower triple tree, with no helmet it seems allmost unoticable, a full face is VERY annoying, a half helmet (skull crush) is hardly noticable, good luck in whatever works for you.
Look @ getting the "fork baffle" as well...I added "four" things to cure dirty air (8.5" w/s, fairing wings, lowers + fork baffle). Still catch a little air, but I ride w/FF lid and they're a huge sail so it's tolerable. I sacrifice some comfort for safety...
I have a 10" Ultra (recurve) shield from LongRideShields that works great! Still getting a little buffeting from under the fairing so I added the fork mounted wind deflectors from jesscustoms today and now it's raining and will until Sunday, sigh. After I ride it Sunday I'll report back on the results. 6' here....

The OP had a short(4") shield on my EGC when I purchased it. I had very bad buffeting, so much that it caused severe headaches after a few hrs of riding. A friend gave me a set of the HD smoke wings for the batwing. I picked up a used 9" LRS recurve from kdodd he had for sale here. I installed it and had immediate relief of the heavy buffeting and wind noise. It wasn't all gone though so after reading about the fork leg air deflectors from HD, I picked them up yesterday and installed them.
Fixed!
I'm 6'2" using a badlands seat and the shield lips about 3"-4" below my line of sight. I highly recommend the use of one or more of these products!

Also installed fork deflectors from jesscustoms and tested on three rides. Wind up under the face/chin reduced by ~70% (wag). Just little puffs around the side of the face. Look a bit goofy to me but they work. Also have the HD deflectors, 8" windshield and lowers (Ultra).
Quieter in the seat which allows more clickity-clack noises from the engine that I'd rather not hear, too funny. Now feel the wind wrapping around and ruffling up the back of the shirt. Will take it, no more bugs under the sunglasses.

Why is it that at 50mph and above the wind causes a vibration that really messes with your head? i bought a different windshield the dealer told me that would cure it but it only helped a little. please help because i love the bike otherwise but really cant take this vibration.
For me it took multiple steps on my FLHTP to eliminate the vibration with my half helmet. First, I got the 10" wind splitter which helped a little bit. Then I added the fairing lower deflectors which helped a little more. But, what made it completely go away was the addition of the fork mounted baffles. I'm 6' tall and that's what ended up working for me. Good luck.
I used to look at these post and think Duh, your on a motorcycle you suppose to have wind. I rode with the stock 4" Streetglide sheild for 18,000 miles then put a 6" wind splitter from HD on and I still have wind noise but it's not beating my face off any more if that makes sense.
