I don't know what two-piece rotors are. But if they don't float, i.e., if the disc isn't free to 'float' relative to the hub, then there's going to be a real tendency for the disc to deform/warp with heat.

In the case of the stock one-piece HD rotors, one hard stop is enough to warp them. I bought the HD 'floating' rotors (about $325/pair) and haven't had any issues in over 10K miles. (My stock rotors had warped). I have Brembo calipers, too.

The front rotors on my new '12 RGU started a slight pulsation @ 2k, and now at 4400 they are definitely warped. I'm not particularly hard on brakes, and never had problems with rotors warping on my police bikes.

I have an appointment to drop the bike off Monday with the dealer. I think that HD should replace them under warranty with less than 5000 miles on the bike. I know HD classifies rotors as a wear item, but under the circumstances...

We'll see.

Yeah, I'm prepared for that answer. If so, I'll order a good set of aftermarket rotors and replace 'em myself. If I'm paying for them, I won't put stock ones on.

UPDATE:

I wrote an email to PM. I basically laid out what the issue was and stated that as the second owner of the bike, I was prepared for them to tell me to go f**k myself.

To my surprise, I received a reply the next business day stating that when the riding season was finished, I should remove the rotors and send them to PM and they would most likely (but not 100%) replace them for me. I think the mitigating factor for them is the lack of miles on them.

So, on to the next step...

I had PM rotors on my old Fatboy. Never had a problem.
One of my HD floaters is slightly warped, but I think it's because one of my kids banged into it in the garage.

The new baggers with the Brembo calipers are known to warp rotors occasionally. They heat the rotors up so much when you brake.

^^^

Well this is probably the issue then as I have done NOTHING other than ride the bike since I bought it. No trauma at all, no kids banging into them with a shovel...

And HogPro- her name is Cynthia. Why?

I read this thread when it was new, I was having the same problems

contacted PM - and thought I bought them directly from PM at last years bike week, figured out that I actually bought them through the Kuryakyn tent at bike week last year, which is handled completely seperate.

They are handling the warranty claim with PM for me and are sending my rotors as soon as PM has them made.

and IF I can get them before bike week, Kury and their installation tent will handle the swap out under warranty also!
