Planing on running a 255 cam with a s & s 107 kit, rush mufflers,on my 09 rk.would the se 110 Cvo heads be worth putting on also or just keep the stock heads.im after low end torque but since these heads come on the 110 engine I didn't know if my stock heads should be changed also.
You are planning to go to 107" kit, do heads and then you are going to use 255 cams? 255 cams are basic cams for obtaining more torque. They were not designed to max HP or torque. They were designed to be EPA legal.
CVO bikes come stock with 255 cams. Go check out the CVO forums and see how many people there are swapping out their 255 cams.
It's your money and you can do what you want to, but I would never do it.
a good tuner can rework your stock heads for about 600 bucks less than half the cost of mva i found out the hard way and blew 1400 on mvas the bike got 100 hp and 107 torque on dyno but i put in 10.5:1 pistions to match the heads it pilled like a bull dozer u have to worry about head piston cam combinations and the ccp valve the combo comes up with 255 cam stock heads is about 195 the mva headz 10 -1 combo was 215 which is way too high for good dyno tuning a world class builder i found later on told me he wouldnt even touvh my bike on dyno becuase based on the parts i told him i had he knew ccp was about 210 just by my description he said the stock heads reworked have a better velocity than the se heads and they also match piston configuration my bike was very hard to start with the 255 and 10-1 i changed to andrews cam to match the compression ratio and it runs much smoother doesnt have the tractor pulling torque at lowerbrpms but i can still drive at 50 mph and roll on in 6 and it doesnt lug
Find a builder that knows what he is doing not just the harley counter parts guy one gu wanted to sell me the andrews 55 instead ofnthe 54 or 32 thr andrews rep recommended afret i gave him my nunbers the counter guy said the description looked better you have to build off real numbers im learning the hard way i aint an expert but just saying what ive found so far
I have run the 255 in stock 103 and ran great.i got the 107 from a friend and just wondered if there would be any advantage to running the 110 heads over the stock, sorta a small Cvo motor.i know there are better cams and heads but the 255 cams are great for low end torque and I just want to build as good a torque motor around them as I can.
O figure the ccp of stock pistons in a 110 which i assume are flattops u also need chamber volume of the 110 heads bet your stock one reworked by a pro will out perform se 110 heads i se if i can find piston and 110 head numbers in harley site may be hard to do im on tablet at work right now nope harley site doesnt like android tablet
