Anyone installed the HD security system? My 08 EG didn't come with one and I'm making my winter wish list and was wondering if anyone has installed the system themselves. If so, how difficult is it? Looking at it on the MoCo web site it doesn't look too difficult, but we all know looks can be deceiving.
I'd also like to get the pager unit since I do frequent some rather dubious parts of town. Does the pager need the HD siren, or will the Radio Shack's work?
The pager comes with the smart siren II and will not work without it. As for the security system I have seen on he that some have installed it themselves and intiated the system with some very lengthy steps. Also read where some have taken their bike in and had the dealer intiate the system.
I added the TSSM to my '07 like you're contemplating. The kit comes with one fob, and I bought another used one on Ebay. The TSSM itself is a simple install, but you'll need to have the fobs calibrated to the TSSM at the dealer, as I know of no way to do it without dealer software (Digital Technician). If there is a way to do it all yourself I've never seen any mention of it anywhere. My dealer charged me their minimum, which was $37.50 (30 min.) at the time (2008).
The TSSM does not need a siren to work, but will be totally silent without one. I added the $6 Radio Shack piezo siren which has been working perfectly now for about four years. There are several tutorials on installing these here. Be advised that unlike the HD siren you won't get a battery backup with the RS unit, nor will the paging option be available.
