Doesn't that year give codes when there are issues? Have you checked the codes yet?
You need to know if it's fuel or spark. If you have an old plug laying around connect it to one of the spark plug wires and crank. Be certain, of course to have the plug fully grounded, no explosives / flammables around, and hold it with a shielded tool to not get jolted.
This will start you off in the right direction. Next would be to check for fuel coming from the tank. Check the fuel line before the carb / injector.
What he said. If you have spark, you might try squirting a small amount of starter fluid in through the throttle body to see if it fires momentarily. If it does, you have fuel delivery issues. Start with the fuel line quick disconnect fitting.
I looked up these codes, they seem to relate to front and rear brakes. I don't think this is related to my problem. I did have the rear brake switch replaced recently, I don't know if this is why these codes came up
Could be your ECU took a dump? Pull the master fuze, wait, re insert. If you are getting fuel it has to be electrical or mechanical (timing cam chain). Hope it is not mechanical. You would have heard the mechanical failure.
Many, many 2008 touring bikes had bad fuel filters from the factory. There was even a recall to fix and replace them. If you open up the fuel fill cap and then turn the ignition to the "On" position, you can actually see it spraying wildly inside the gas tank if it is leaking badly enough. When you turn on the ignition do you hear the fuel pump start up and continue to run? Normally it shuts off after a couple of seconds if it pressures up OK.
I will have to check if the filter housing was change with the filter. Also, the fuel pump runs a few seconds and then shuts off just as it always has.

When I changed mine the holes where the retaining clip goes through were stressed and distorted. You could see the cracks forming at the corners of the holes.
