I've run true duals on a number of bikes over the years, and have had Rineharts as well as Samsons and some one-off hand built customs exhausts. Rineharts are among the best performing off-the shelf exhaust systems you can buy, they tune out well and will improve both torque and hp, especially in the mid range. We all want low end torque, it's what you feel when you twist the throttle, but mid range power is what gets you down the onramp ahead of your buddy.

The 08-and earler twin cam touring bikes had a particularly poor performing stock header, there's lots of reasons to junk it. The 09-newer stock header is better, but the crossunder is still overly restrictive and the "collector" isn't a true merge collector, it's more of a balance chamber, and not designed for max flow rates.

A Pelops will gain you 15 tq up to 4000rpm without a cam. If you are lookin for a torque cam the woods 222 and the se255 are known stump pullers and won't disappoint.
You can save a pile of money buy using a pcv for tuning the bike. It's inexpensive and works very well. There is one for sale in the classifieds right now.

My service center is recommending Stage 1 air kit, EFI Super Tuner, True Dual, a 525 cam and Dyno Tune
It depends where you want the torque.
But a 2 into 1 pipe or duals with the cross over will help with low end torque over true duals, but you are looking for mid range.

I would do some research and do a stage 1 air and pipes, and then consider cams, and while you have it apart replace the chain tensioners with a gear.

Consider 2 into 1 pipes, there are lots of good ones out there, that alone will help, but with a good air breather and a good tune together will be some increase, add the cams and all together it should be a noticeable increase in torque and all around power gain.

I like true duals and I had Reinhardt trues on my king, but I am told the 2 into 1's are going to offer more torque, I havent had them yet, so I dunno..

the tensioner is only preventative but since you will be in there why not take care of it now so you dont have to worry about it later.

I like the dual cone air breather with a sock over it air kit, very nice looking and takes in a lot more air than most breathers, I like the spike one for looks but the cone offers less restrictive air flow.
heres a pic,

Find the right pipes and when you tune you will be doing well, imho.

You will be doing a stage 2 basically at that point and its not too much more, do that and have it tuned properly and you should be happy for the bang for your buck increase you get.

Others with more experience will have better opinions on whether or not cams along with a stage 1 will help, but I think for the cost and the increases added together you will get the most out of doing it that way.
Just my opinion, good luck

An Andrews 48 ,Se 204 or a crane 1-6000 would be a better cam choice.Only 2 manufactures make a 525 cam, they would need more compression..........maybe they rec. an Se 255?
