Hopefully you got the right amount of fork oil back in them. Easier to lossen the pinch bolts, remove the top caps and drop the forks out. That way you can get the exact amount of oil back in them (if you have the correct tool that is)....Also, did you replace the fork seals?...

Did not want to remove the tube from the bike. Wasn't necessary. Did not replace the seals. Bike has 4k miles. Seals looked new. Haven't put any fluid back in it yet. My time ran short on me.

If I can do it, best believe you can do it. Just take your time & remember how it looked before you disassembled everything. Piece of cake. It took my about 4 hours total after running back & forth for tools & new seals.

Poor boy here. Today I spent an hour with sand paper and steel wool and Mothers polish. My forks looked like crap. Now they look so much better and I hope a polish now and then will keep them looking good.

Great lookin' forks. Dang, now I need to add those to my list of "gotta have it". Like most of us, my list is longer than my finances can support.

Have fun puttin' it back together.

Nice looking legs!

I do have to ask: What exactly were you using the bricks for?

I used the bricks to stabilize the front wheel as I removed the axle. Then I used them again with a piece if wood on top to support the bottom of the slider as I tapped my seal in. Gotta be creative.
