Default Who just puts a quart in 96" primary ?

Book says 38 oz and 45 if the primary has been torn down, had the bike to the dealer for a inner primary bearing they just put in a quart. I put in the other 13oz when I got home to = the 45 the book calls for if totally dry.

I fill to the bottom of the clutch basket, sometimes it an ounce or two more or less than called for.

Do the level to bottom of clutch spring when upright. The clutch starter ring gear runs in oil even if you only put 1/2 a quart in there so it's like a dish washer in there when it's running. Most if not all the oil runs out when you just drain so that torn down/drain stuff is silly but I know it's in book. Even the display for the oil level is sorry in most Harley owner and service manuals. Just my opinion.

I go by the book, 38oz when changing the fluid, and 45oz if dry.

How do you know the dealer only put a quart in? There is a chance that they charged for a quart but actually put in the correct amount.

They said they did, maybe I'd better drain it out and put 38 back. Hate when other people work on my bike

I've got 25000 miles on my bike and I've been putting in 45oz. since I swapped compensators and tensioners at 9000 miles. I did the tensioner because at 9000 miles the tensioner showed significant wear already. Putting 45oz in the primary puts the tensioner shoe and chain riding on the shoe in oil completely. The primary is much quieter doing this in my opinion.

Everyone has their own opinion, I'll stick with my approach as I know the sound reduction is a fact and I've seen no cons to doing it this way.
