Default Blown Compensator Spring Pack

I was out riding this morning and a rattle noise started coming from my primary case. It sounded like the chain might have been hitting against the inside of the primary case. I rode the bike home and put it up on the lift table and opened the inspection cover. Nothing really remarkable. The primary chain was properly set. I drained the oil and pulled the cover off and found the problem.

The sprocket cover was torn apart on one side and the spring plates were sticking out of it and hitting the inside of the primary cover.

A little bit of damage to the inside of the primary cover but it wasn't broken. A lot of metal in the oil. I have to pull the stator off and check for metal on the magnets.
The sprocket cover or spring pack is a special order part and will take a week or so to be delivered to the local dealer. So much for the last few days of riding this year.

Never a good time for it to happen, but better now than in the middle of riding season and the part be on backorder from the MoCo! That really puts a damper on things, been there, done that, got the t-shirt!....Hope you get it going before it gets really cold, maybe you'll get a few more riding days!!

They could have it in two days if gotten from another dealer. Several dealers in North Carolina and W. Virginia show as in stock.

Yeah, I checked around a few dealers in the Washington DC area. Noboby around here has one, but there are a few scattered around PA. I didn't check NC but then, I didn't want to drive all the way down there for one either.
I'll just wait it out. I'm sure it won't be in on Friday like they told me. Never does work out as they promise.

Mine is an 06 Road Glide. They use the older version of compensator. The design was changed for the 08 model I think, but either way, the new one won't fit the older TC88.

Riding season? Really? I live in Washington as long as there is not ice on the road I ride. If its raining I might not want to ride my Harley with my leg over the filter, sure.. That's why I bought some rockets too! I ride them when it's raining or my Harley(s) are broken. Sometimes just because I want to. Point is with the following never stop riding.
1. Thick hoodie
2. good riding jacket
3. vest
4. MASK
5. INSULATED GLOVES, not heated.
6. Alpinestar Leather pants
optional: long johns
7. bring dry gloves , sweatshirt and jacket for long trip home,

Riding season... Ain't y'all got big a$$ bugs in the summer? hell I guess I don't know, but that might be end of my season! Ride safe keep it up and watch out for big a$$ bugs that s*** might take a rider down! Hope not.
