I have a 120r equipped 2010 SG with the D&D Fat Cat 2:1 exhaust, I believe it's the Boss version (if that matters)? Anyhow, in talking with D&D about my build, they mentioned I should be running the Boarzilla being the head temps tend to be lower. Anyone with experience on this issue?
Overall, I'm fine with the Fat Cat sound and performance (125 square). Apparently, the Fat Cat has a 1 5/8" headpipe with the Boarzilla being 1 3/4". I'd rather not spend another $900 on an exhaust, however, if it's about damage control, of course I'll do so.
If you seriously consider new pipes you should look at Drago's pipes. Either the Dragula or the Fang. Booth the have 3 step headers and are ceramic coated inside and out. The Dragula sounds good without being obnoxious!

Frank guarantees that his pipes will make more power than any one elses...
+1 I've been running the Dragula on my Procharged 120R for over 4,000 miles; performs, looks & sounds great. Besides that its about $300 cheaper than the Borzilla.
1 more thing, I see that you are in IL so is Frank Drago...give him a call.

The 120R is right on the border size wise between the Fat Cat and Boarzilla. Rule of thumb was 124" and up for the Boarzilla. At least that was the case when we built the 117" motor in my dyna in 2008.

I had one on my 113" with a quiet baffle and it was far from quiet. I ended up selling; I couldn't take the noise.
I'm pretty sure the fat cat is a straight 1 3/4" tube header
I went with the Fang. It has a 3" collector and not too loud. The D&D's are WAY too loud IMHO. Furthermore, I paid 3 bones less than the D&D variants. Give Frank a call.
OP is asking if the Fatcat will hurt the 120r due to increased temps. He is happy with the pipe but doeant want to ruin his motor. I dont have an educated answer but believe the fatcat will only hold back peak performance.

Maybe too loud to YOU, I highly disagree. I think the fatcat has the sickest sound out there and the finish is top notch. To each his own.
As hog95023 mentioned, I am happy with the Fat Cat - the chrome finish is as good as I've seen, the build appears one of lasting quality, and the overall product is something I would quickly recommend to someone. However, and this is not a fixation to grab another 5 hp/tq, it's about what D&D suggests to reduce head temperatures...with the key word being SUGGESTS. Yea, they want to sell another pipe, of course...and I'd rather them not do so through uneducated fear of a buyer (not that they are), which is why I leaned on you gentlemen to get objective views from those who have no interest in selling, only helping a fellow Forum member. You guys here know the lick on v-twin motors, I unfortunately don't, and D&D knows exhaust. I'm the LAST guy who wants to buy a new exhaust just for kicks, however, if this D&D pipe is choking my motor down, increasing head temperatures and potentially damaging the bike, then I'm in the market for Drago's Fang.
Lastly, I do appreciate everyones input. I've leaned on this Forum for numerous answers and value what HDF provides us.
The Boarzilla is probly the right pipe for the 120R, but the Fat Cat isn't the wrong pipe for a 120R.
I have a Fat Cat on my 120R crate motor and it makes 128 H, 126 T.
I have 15k miles on it and it runs great and gets 42 mpg and makes 110Tq at 2500 rpm.
I think it's a good combo for the street if your not worried about noise.I want to do another 120R and use smaller cams and quiet mufflers for my ultra. I'm not into noise anymore.
