How did you get the captive nuts to lock in. When I put mine in, the bags would move slightly and vibrate. Any suggestions.

It would be nice if there were some way to visually identify that your saddlebags are now secure so that thieves don't damage your **** trying to pop them off.

There is. Once you have the tinnerman nuts on, it is obvious, and if you try to fidget around to see if there is a little wire on the back, you will quickly feel that there is none.

Other than the obvious additional income generated from replacement, it's difficult for me to understand why this solution isn't coming from the manufacturing side. Ease of removal for the owner and reasonable security from the would-be thief shouldn't be mutually exclusive goals.

I used 1/4 " stainless allen-head bolts and nylock nuts (inside the bag). Secure, does not shake around and obvious once you reach to the back that it's not factory quick-relesases.

5/16" - 18 speed nuts
5/16" x 1.5" cap screws (1.25" length would be perfect)
fender and lock washers
four of each
About $15 at Lowe's or Ace or Home Depot

Something similar here. Dremeled off the old wires so I could reuse the original clips. Got stainless bolts and keeper nuts. I need wrenches to take mine off which can be a pain, but they are a lot safer now. Of course if someone wants them bad enough nothing can stop them.
