Alot of guy sell their bike with the bracket still attached.I dont think these brackets are very expensive...$25-$30 new so that would be an EZ option.
+1 HD sells the bracket seperate. I bought one for my 2nd bike so I could swap the backrest between bikes.
OK here is a photo of the bracket i am getting . It is from a 2010 ultra i think.
From several posts i have read it should bolt onto my 2008 FLHRC .
What do you guys think ? Will it work ?
ya it worked perfect . i found when i went to put it on that the mounting stud plate was missing from my bike .The previous owner removed it.
I picked one up from HD for $3.29+ tax, the two plastic retaining washers were $3.50+tax.
Fishing the studplate up under the fender with out removing the rear wheel was a little complicated .
I put the bike on my sissor jack and let all of the air out of the tire i took the two ends of 5' of small hose fed it down threw the two holes in the fender i pushed the ends of the small plastic hose over the two threaded studs on the mounting plate and placed it between the fender and the tire (tight fit ) i pulled up on the hose and rotated the tire till the studs on the mounting plate came threw the holes in the fender . i grabbed one of the studs with some locking pliers .then put the plastic retaining washers on . then bolted up the backrest mounting braket to the studs on the studplate.
