I tried to put one on a bike once and I couldn't get the thread started but I only tried for a few minutes. It was just a bike I was selling so I went back to the rubber hose. That rubber cross over line really pisses me off whenever I have to take off a tank.
I got the same one for mine. It was a lil tough to slide on over the nipple of tank. Getting the right angle & be able to thread the nut on was a pain. But I also had a broken hand & still got it done.
I use a self sealing quick release coupling. Makes it easier to remove the tank withour draining it. I can't see any advantage of the item in that link over a piece of rubber hose!

+1 Go to the Jeg's Catalog website and look for Jiffy-tite quick disconnect fittings. You'll never cuss that cross-over hose again.

Do you remember where you purchase the quick release coupling at or what brand it is?

I bought mine in an auto parts store, with their own brand on it. As I live in the UK that won't be much help for most of you, I'm afraid (Halfords). Mine is plastic, but I have also seen metal ones intended for racing use. They are also used on aircraft and other military applications, so there are plenty out there, so I can only recommend trying auto stores and websites.
thanks for the responses... grbrown do you happen to have the part numbers of which ones you used?
skydude:
Go to www.jegs.com and type 'jiffy-tite in the search bar. They have pictures and everything so pick the quick disconnect fittings you want. You'll need a male and, of course, the corresponding female counterpart. Procede to check-out. Voila!!!
You can also use their handy 800 phone number and get personal one on one service with a technician.
