How can I lower an 09 ultra classic idle speed to something like the old potato sound? Is it possiable? My scooter idles at about 950 warm...I would like to see what it would sound like at 650....
AT that low idle would it oil ALL of the internal componets? What would you suggest?
Since your bike is EFI it will be almost impossible. My experience and from what I have read about all of the aftermarket tuners (PCV, Fuelmoto, SE, etc..) will NOT let you adjust the idle speed lower than the factory setting.
Pretty sure EFI will not idle slow enough to say "potato-potato-potato", gotta have a carb.
Would that include an after market piggyback controller like PCV?
I noticed on my 2012 Sportster with a PCV the RPM sounds lower unless it's the after market slipon mufflers that's making it sound different.

The new TC's should not be idled much below 950...at 650, you won't have much if any oil pressure and the charging system will no longer put out enough charge to keep the bike running.
So, unless you have a tuning program to lower the idle yourself, I don't think you'll find anyone willing to do it for you (liability issues I'm sure).

Some tuners do allow the idle to be set much lower then factory. Sometimes it's done for limited periods of time during tuning sessions.
It can be done via the ECM, and a dealer has to do it.
You will need to get a lumpy cam to get the potato sound (sort of). My dealer offered to lower mine down to 800, for the same reason, a better idle sound, but advised against it due to oil pressure. Also told me I would need a cam (suggested a 204). They also said, even with the cam and the lower idle, it would not have the true old school potato potato sound, so I just left it alone.
