If the prices are significantly different and most else is equal, save yourself the depreciation hit and grab the one with 500 miles if it looks good to you.

+1 on the demo scooter with 500 miles.
Provided it is decked out the way you like.... Chit even if it isn't it's a Harley you are going to change as much as your WALLET will allow anyway!

Stealer quoted me a price I couldn't back away from on a 12 RGU while getting the 03 RK serviced, glad I steppe up and bought it!! Pick your poison here, wait and spend or take and run the choice is the bike and if it suits you.

My choice was obvious!

May I suggest if you go "used" or "new" I would at

least go for a 2009 model year!

Good Luck and Welcome to the forum.

Thank you so much for this -- extremely helpful! Now I need to check out the Ultras.!

Thanks RK! I'll have to dig a little deeper -- make sure I am comparing essentially the same machine.

Why 2009? Your favorite year?

I laughed at the "Hide your wallet!"

Okay, here's another question. Let's say I go with new. If there are 10 dealers within 250-400 miles of me, are their prices on the base model going to vary much? Just wondering how much energy I should put into shopping around the region for the best price.

Thank you for your input! I appreciate it! I'll know better when my dealer gives me a quote on the things I know for sure that I want added.

Yep, I would take the 'barely' used bike.

What kind of knowledge or experience do you have with this particular situation? If it was you, would you buy the barely used RG to save x dollars? Do you have an accurate estimate of what x would be? Would you start from scratch with a new RG and have the dealer add everything?

Sigh......

Thanks!
So you don't get sticker shock (Dealer installed. icluding sales tax)
lowers: $750
exhaust: $1,200 (headers and mufflers)
highway pegs: $200 (mpunt and pegs)
dropped 1": $700 (front and rear)
maybe a tour pack: $1,800 (Pak, mount, 4-point mount, backrest)
