I guess everytime that dealer talks, people are looking around to find the stinking pile of crap.

Something about changes supposedly to the 13's.

I have a 12 and have new bars with the wires extended and none of this extra crap was needed on mine. Sounds like another lame excuse for the service writer to justify charging even more. Thought I would run it by here and see if my friend was just getting the standard crap from his dealer or is there something to this?
An idea--have your friend forward this thread to the dealer claiming this so they can read and explain that everyone on here is wrong.

As Dawg pointed out, it's crazy talk.
You sir would be correct.

It could be that they they have changed the TSSM to control all switch functions and are operating it as a low voltage control module. If that were true, and I highly suspect it is not, it may require a reduced voltage like 5VDC or 3.5VDC. If the switches are sinking the voltage from the power in the harness, rather than sourcing it from the control module, that voltage would be battery or regulator voltage: 13.2VDC nominal. The high voltage would have to be dropped before returning to the control module causing the need for resistors. As I stated before, this is a possible bit unlikely scenario.

I put 14" apes on my 12 SG.. I cut and spliced all of my wires.. an extra 2 feet and it has worked flawlessly for over a year.

Yes, they are smoking some good **** at that dealer. My dealer told me to do my own work. I must be lucky to have a good dealer. They only tell me to bring my bike in when it needs to be done by them. Most of the time, the mechanic tells me I can do the work myself. Any I have. Find another dealer...lol
