Default Search Function

If you know a simple trick, it makes searching the site really easy and useful.

add "site:hdforums.com" to your google search term and you get great results.

Here's an example: http://www.google.com/search?q=remap...hrome&ie=UTF-8
Just goes to show that even some of these "time waster" threads can produce helpful info - Kiethhu, thanks for the tip on site:

I agree that the search function isn't very functional - lots of trial and error w/search parameters to get good results.

Not to mention, that most of the time there might be some new info out on a particular subject that someone hasnt posted. Not everyone spends every waking minute looking at the computer. Quick question...Quick answer

I enjoy this site like no other,
its entertaining. I am passionate about my bike, and riding it.
I read lots of posts, and have learned who I should PM if I have a specific question (trust factor) and have been able to build a puzzle of what makes the MoCo, and various vendors tick just by the extremes that are posted. I can also get a feel for what makes some of the peeps tick based on the responses some lay down.

So many times when a specific question is asked, the thread is railroaded into a whole new topic by the end, the "search" function has proven useless to me.
I simply love this place for the entertainment factor, along with the fact it is probably the most un moderated site I have belonged to. What a great way to spend the winter months indoors while the bike hybernates, and I learn something new everytime I log on, be it about my bike, the MoCo, vendors, or other peeps who share the same passion about the lifestyle, hobby, or whatever it is to you.

A little babbling here, but they are cutting back on my meds so, it is what it is.......

Hey I'm thinking of getting a GPS. Any advice? This is my second day on the internet and you seem like an expert.

Thanks!

Newbies are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they DO use the search function and then put their comment on that thread, the same people then jump all over them and make fun of them, saying "Don't you know this is a 4 year-old thread? Don't you think the OP has figured it out by now?"

After being here a while, most stop reading "which oil in which hole," "what is the 'best' exhaust?" and "touring wobble" threads.

So Newbies, if you don't find your answer with a search (which I do encourage) post away!

Just wondering what constitutes a "Newbie"? Is it determined by the "join date"? Or the number of post accumulated? Or a combination of both? Or perhaps the validity of the question or statement being posted? Are they classified by a committee of one?

I'm sure you can find 250 threads on using the search function as well.

New GPS units come out all the time, some with useful features.
I could understand if this was a rant about a oil, jack or what are the loudest quiet pipes thread.
