Default 18's now........

I've decided that I am going with a set of Fat Daddy 50's on my 06 Road Glide. I am still reading and trying to decide between Metzlers and the Avon Venoms. Kind of leaning towards the Avons. I am going with the 3.5 up front same as stock. What's the widest I can go on the back without having to make other changes? They've got 4.5 and 5.5. I am leaning towards 4.25 if I can get away with it...

Thanks

HogPro recommends a 4.25 rim with a 150/70/18 tire. I've had both Metzler ME880's and Avon Venom X. I prefer the Metz. I felt they handled better. JMO

I'm going with the Avons. They make a 150 rear tire that handles our load requirements where the Metlers don't. You'll have to step down to a 140 tire. That may not even matter to you. Both are great tires and an improvement over the Dunlaps.

I just put a set of Metzler 880 tires on my Ultra and could not believe the difference over the stock dunlops. those metzler tires really hold the road. I was concerened with the milage but my local cycle shop told me if I keep 44 pounds in the back tire and 40 in the front, I would get decent milage.
