looking at adding a security system to the ultra and was considering the digital guard dog, or the HD system, any pros or cons on either, seems to add the HD would be double the price.
Double the price. The HD system is a good one. It's plug and play except for the programming to your bike and has features you just can't get with an aftermarket system, such as the "walk away" key fob arming with starter kill.
HD security system is $329, the guard dawg is $149 as far as I can tell both use a key fob that has to be whithin feet of the bike for it to start.
Looked at the guard dawg, and for what you give up it would not be worth the price difference to me.
If you lose the fob with the guard dawg it appears you are SOL with the Harley system if you don't have the fob you can override security with a code number entered with the turn signals.
On the other hand all you would have to do to disable the guard dog is to put the original start relay back in. Easy if you lose the fob but also easy for a thief.
