Yesterday a few of the Florida Crew got together and had Paul the Fairing Man from Jacksonville come down to the Miami area and do painted inner fairings for a few of us. Paul did an outstanding job (and put up with a lot of ribbing from us!)....quick, professional, and a ton cheaper than I would have paid the dealership!. For significantly less than what HD charges for just the part itself, Paul did all the installation labor and even re-installed my HD fairing-mounted GPS holder and saved my chrome gauge accents for use on the new fairing. Its amazing what a difference it makes in the look of the bike.
Many thanks to Gabe (Fire-Medic) for hosting and putting up with us, and to the rest of the Florida Crew members that I met and made it a fun afternoon.
How much was the fairing to be painted and installed????????
How much was the fairing to be painted and installed????????
$400 OTD. Would have been $350 but he had to charge a bit extra because of the work on the GPS mount and the fact that the black fairing he got from me had 3 holes in it because of the mount. Paul shows up with a fairing painted your color and exchanges it out for your black one. Saves me the trouble of trying to sell it or being without my ride while its out being painted, and he can keep his prices down. HD charges $549.95 for the painted fairing and you still have to deal with the removal, swap, and re-install, so it worked for me
Yea I said the same thing when I bought the bars lol....but I got them at Laconia bike week and they had a booth, so the price included installation at least. Also I figured they will be the first and last bars I will have to buy. If I don't like my riding position I just grab a wrench and change it. Since I wouldn't even attempt changing bars out myself and would have had to pay someone to do it, it wasn't as bad. Also they worked with all the stock wires so there was no additional cost.
