Funny how paint is there to protect what is underneath (often steel or aluminium) and then we look for something to cover the paint! What's that all about?!
My bikes wear their knocks and scrapes with pride.
Ran one on my 07 FLHT for a couple years straight when I had lots of time to ride & travel (yes, I was unemployed!) When it came off the fairing was perfect. To the OP, I sold the FLHT Tues. and still have the bra, send me PM and I'll get it to you cheap if interested.
I am trying to avoid having the fairing painted because it is a custom ghost flame paint job. I'm thinking about the bra to match with my leather bags. What do you think.
I've had a fairing bra on my bike for about 5 years and my paint is in perfect condition, you have to make sure the cover is clean and put it on so its tight and nothing can get under it.
I think that is the key right there. Seems pretty much impossible though. If you ride in dusty areas, or in rain storms, the bike is a mess afterwards, but if you can keep it clean and tight so it does not move around then it might be okay.
Back inn the 90's I had a bra on two different cars. Never again. If you put it on, you can never take it off because the the paint underneath will be trashed.

I am running an after market fairing as well. I did not get the fairing painted and have been using the harley bra on it for two years now. I think it ties everything together real well with the roadking custom bags I have. Plus it is a lot cheaper than paint. The fairing just have the gel coat on it, and I take the bra off to wax twice a year and I have yet to see any issues with the gel coat. I say go for it. If you end up leaving the fairing on a lot then I would say get it painted but for limited use just use the bra.
Bought an Ultra bra but was unable to install it. Too small, unless I'm doing something wrong. Any of you guys been able to install it on reckless fairing? Could it be the cold weather not letting me strecht it enough?

Completely different situation but I had to replace the Mustang riders backrest vinyl cover. That was a bear so I called Mustang and they suggested using a heat gun which eventually allowed me to stretch it on.
