Last winter I decided to have my 2010 Black Street Glide painted. The first winter I had her I did performance, comfort and handling mods. I'm kinda of a hot rod guy so initially I was going to put orange flames on black but after riding a black for a year and a half I decided to go with the PPG Sedona Orange and House of Kolor marbled mandarin orange flames and Harley orange pin stripe. To me flames are time less.
After I disassembled the bike in early March of last year I was told it would take three weeks for the paint to be completed. Long story short and two months later I get the parts back with Dupont paint instead of the PPG that was requested and promised. The Dupont changes color and appears to be different shades because it is more sensitive to light, but still looks awesome.
The 3D chrome tank emblems were removed and the painter did a grade school level painted emblems. No offense to grade school kids. So after a few months with this great paint job on the bike and emblems that looked worse every time I looked at them, I took the tank off and took it to a real painter, Copperhead Graphics. Note to self, if you are ever going to paint a bike again take it to Copperhead. Chad, from Copperhead, airbrushed emblems on the tank and he, as always, did a fantastic job! The pictures don't do the bike justice.
Is it finished? Not yet. I still want to change the wheels and put S&S duel headers and a S&S big bore 107 kit and the list never ends.
WOT, thanks for looking... Merry Christmas everyone!
