With top and lower Torx bolt removed , is there something I'm missing ? Something hanging up? Don't want to force them apart.
Trying to install Chrome switch caps...
Need a bit more information..did you take out the bolts that hold the levers on? Also, be very careful with the front brake lever. Make sure you place a small shim in the lever in order to avaoid breaking the switch.
Should just split apart like a clam-shell, but be careful. Lots of things can get messed-up while working on the controls. Got to protect the wiring, brake switch, controls, etc...and test fit the buttons for fit because they sometimes require a little "trimming" to ensure smooth operation. Good luck!
If it is cold, soak them in hot water for a while to soften them up. Will help with the install. Like stated already MAKE SURE to shim the brake lever (I know fro experience) and watch where everything goes before you take the insides of the housings apart.
Mine were alot stiff at first to get apart. You'll need a little force to separate them, just use some caution.
You have taken loose the master cylinder and clutch perch clamps right?
They have to come off also.
Instructions here on how to shim the front brake switch so you don't break it.
