I believe that the light is lit based on rpm's vs speedo readings. Therefore it should be possible under the conditions you describe. The real question is, why coast in gear with the clutch in in the first place?
On both my recent Heritage Classic and current RKC, the light would extinguish when i pulled the clutch in while in sixth gear and the way I read the owners manuals, this was normal operation. Just an FYI... But since yours is coming on with the clutch in and when you aren't even in sixth gear, you should heed Iceman's advice and head to the dealer service department. Doesn't look like it should cost you anything but your time since it is a 2012.

Im not talking about coasting down a mountain in gear. Coast in gear with clutch pulled- lets say Im traveling at 50 mph in 4th gear, and the traffic slows in front of me. I will clutch, thereby coasting, and hold until I determine if I need to downshift or if the traffic picked back up while I am still at appropriate speed for current gear. Fairly common practice for me in heavy traffic and using a decent standoff. This is when I see the 6 light come on momentarily.
Now that I have added a PC V- is the dealer going to say the aftermarket parts caused it? I was doing it well before when I was stock. It will probably be another "we couldnt replicate the fault" answer.
Probably depends on the service department.
My 2010 Ultra does it too, usually coming down the hill from my house while coasting. It comes on when the speedo reads 25 mph and the RPM is 1000 then goes out when the speed or RPM changes. I can make it come on going down the hill at will. Had it checked out by the dealer and they couldn't find a issue with it. My wifes 2011 Softtail Deluxe does it too.
