I don't own a trailer ... and the last time someone called me a ***** to my face it took him a couple of minutes to get back up ... so maybe that's why I don't understand your reply ... WTF has owning a trailer got to do with being a ***** ... all the OP was looking for was a recommendation on a trailer ... not on whether or not it would make him more or less a man.
That was a joke directed at somelse. Sorry, Did'nt mean to offend anyone. I too am thinking of getting a trailer.
+1 for the Aluma MCT trailer. The XL is the larger of their two models. I have pulled the MCT for the last five years with my Goldwing. It pulls extremely easy and still large enough to hold whatever I want to take with me.
The only issue with them is the cargo area is not carpeted so you'll want to do that to make the Aluma experience better.
I will be adding a hitch to my 2013 Ultra Classic so I can continue to bring my trailer with me. Highly recommend them. Bought mine through Thomas Bus as well. Great company to deal with.
Don't do it, read your owners manual, not recommended, bad effect on handling, chancy and dangerous. If you really need to take that much junk with you, just drive your car. The wife and I take the Ultra on two 14 day vacations a year, and do it all with just the saddlebags, tour pak, and rack on top with no problems. Just learn to travel with the necessities when on a motorcycle trip.
Get the trailer. That way your wife can take all the shoes that she feels is necessary. That alumna trailer looks pretty heavy, but I didn't pull up the specs.
Check Your local Craigs list or other local classifieds. I found an older model for $450.00. Then replaced a few things & painted it to match My 08 FLHTCU. Took it from Seattle to Flagstaff & back last summer. Don't let others sway You away from the ones with the smaller tires, they worked great for Me.

Reason: Adding picture
I have an older CycleMate. Been threw a couple bikes and Multiple paint jobs. Pulled it thousands of miles with no problems.
Bringing it home when I bought it. Orginal Color
Rebuilding it to my standard
After rebuild and paint behind my 06 SG
Current color on my 2012 SG
Been thinking about a trailer to pull behind my SG also. Didn't realize they were that expensive!
Anyone have anything bad to say about that HF trailer? Looks like a deal for $399 and then maybe another 2-300 sprucing her up a little?
I thinking its either that or waiting on a great deal on used trailer for me. Can't see myself dropping $2500 to 5k for a trailer for a bike. Hell, I only paid $3k fro the 21' V nose I pull behind my truck.
