Dealer is telling me that the limited outsells the ultra but I think she's blowing smoke.

bought the limited in 2011 for all the reasons others has mention and bought a 2013 , but I do miss the saddlebag guards and I probably add them. I know I made the right decision in my mind, others may feel different, thats why harley has so many models , anyhow I felt at the time in 2011 for the difference in money it was a no brainer

Then your dealer is gouging a little. The difference is 1,165. MSRP two tone Ultra 22,839 + 1,195 Security = 24,034. MSRP two tone Limited = 25,199.

With the difference in add-ons, the price is a wash. It just comes down to what someone likes the best.

Not everyone wants abs or security or two tone paint.

Lets just do vivid black to vivid black.

Black Ultra with no abs or security =21,799
Black Limited =24,199

Difference of 2400.

Freight=380

Now throw 7% sales tax (Pa.)
1552 for the Ultra
1720 for the Limited

Total difference now is - $2568

Far from a wash

I went with the Limited in 2010 because it had the 103" engine. I had wanted to buy a vivid black model but that color wasn't available in 2010. The best color combo for me was the vivid black/black ice pearl two tone and that's what I went with. I've had several people ask me since then if I have a custom paint job and they are surprised when I let them know it came that way from the factory. If I was buying again I'd still go with the Limited. I still feel that for all of the different things the Limited has that the Ultra doesn't it is priced fairly. Bottom line is both models are great and you can't go wrong with either one.

I got the Ultra Classic because it was cheaper and had what I needed and liked. I like the bag guards, mine came with ABS and security. It was not worth 3K to me for heated grips and paint, especially the paint that was available at the time.

I don't want the security but I do want ABS, and they only come as a package.

Vivid Black Ultra $21,799 + ABS and security = $22,994.00

Vivid Black Limited $24,199 includes ABS and security

$1205 difference.

If you don't want the extras that the Limited affords it is not a wash. If you do want those items and add that cost in, the price is a wash, don't make any difference what color it is.

If you don't want the extras don't buy them, but if you do, it is just as cheap to go with the Limited as it is with the Ultra. You are still getting what you pay for.

I bought the '12 Limited last January because I liked the Big BluePearl/Black with the blue on top. The '12 Ultra had the colors reversed.
I ended up putting the Ultra front bumper and bag rails on it.
After having it a year now, I don't regret my decision.

- I laughed at the heated hand grips when I saw them...have used them a lot in the past month or so. Nice to have.
- The LED lit gauges are easier to read at night (to me).
- The chrome wheels "seem" to stay cleaner than my old Ultra's cast wheels.
- The ABS has saved my *** in Houston traffic more than once.

But, in the end...buy the bike you like! My '02 Ultra served me well.
