Default Need New Tires?

I needed new tires for my 2012 ElectraGlide Classic, so I followed the advice of posts on the HD Forum. I would like to share my experience.

Getting OEM Dunlop tires from the local HD dealer for tires, mounted, balanced, installed out the door with tax would have been $762. WOW! So, I ordered the Dunlop American Elites from Jake Wilson on Jan. 2 in the afternoon, and received delivery late morning on Jan. 4. Total cost for front and rear delvered was $352.98. Found a local indy that is going to remove the old tires, mount, balance and install the new for about $140. So, instead of paying the HD dealer $762, it's only going to cost me $493, saved $269. This couldn't have been any easier.

Thanks for all the advice from everyone.

I would check with other Indy folks in your area. I pay a WHOLE lot less than that.

..at LEAST take the wheels off and bring them to the indy...now you'll be down to around $60.00....

My dealer Dillion Brothers in Omaha charge $40 a wheel to mount and balance .$80 if they take wheel on and off.
Still way cheaper to buy a tire from JakeWilson have a tire deliverd free.

I take the tire in and have the dealer do the work.

i bought a rear e3 for $131.99 front $110.99

Hey, come on now, give me a break. I'm really happy to be saving the $269.
1) There aren't many indy shops here that will mount tires that they don't sell. I checked.
2) I am not at all mechanically inclined so I wouldn' trust myself removing the wheels and taking them in.
3) I am not really interested in removing the wheels myself.

Why not just let me be happy about saving what I did already.

I've considered taking the wheels off and taking them to the closest indi, but with the 100 mile distance (each way) the cost of fuel in my truck is just about the same as letting them pull the wheels.

With I had a shop closer. Maybe I'll buy the tools and use the beads for balance next change.
