Default 103 Cam Choice

Ok, at the risk of starting a new "oil thread" ......

I have a stock 103 with stage one (V&H Dresser Duals, CVO slip ons with 2" Fullsac cores, PV, and K&N AC. I know of the loss in low end because of duals, but I have accepted that and am fine with that.

I am doing my last mod for a while and that will be a cam. Doing myself so going the adjustable Pushrod route and no change in CR. Looks to be a few favorites (Woods 222, Andrews 57H, Andrews 48, Fueling 574, SE 204, SE 255). Not looking for high rpm HP, looking for good increase in 2500-3500 range as most of my riding. I like the looks of the 222 but dam.... $400 just for the cam?

How about your experience with what you have installed. I don't like the looks of a 2-1 exhaust, so I don't want to add that into this, just looking for some solid experience with what you have installed and like/dislike.

thanks in advance - mike

I have the Andrews54 cams in my bike, along with CNC ported heads, ACR,and TTS tuner. The tq range is around 2800 to 5500 rpm. They also don't make the exhaust much louder like alot of cams do. Just my 2 cents.

I have the Fueling 574 and it is a awesome cam. Really brought the motor to life and has some great torque.

I have the woods 555 in my 96" crossbones, I like them but they don't seem to really come on until a little higher in the rpm range. I have yet to cam the 103, but like you it will most likely be the last mod on the road glide for a while. Based on fm's dyno sheets and what dudes on here are reporting, I well most likely end up with the 222 from woods

ya, really torn. I have seen good write up on the 54 with .030 Head Gasket, but really don't want to do that (cause I am lazy?). Curious on the 57H users as well.

I have close to the same set up as you (103, V&H power duels, se intake, jackpot slip ons, pcv controller)....and I installed se255 and i am completely happy with them...there power range is just where you would like it, and when you compare it to the others on your list the power is pretty close to the same ...what pushed me to the 255s was the price...and there will be no questions about warrenty if the bike breaks, as they are stock on cvo bikes....

I put the 48's in my 103 with V&H dresser duals and love it. It did get a bit louder and has a nice sound at idle. Similar to the SE255's but doesn't drop off as fast. My understanding is that the 57h is stronger in mid to higher rpm's.

Hang on for another month. Mike Roland (Kuryakn) will release the TC-24D. With his exhaust it looks to work great.

Gutted stock head pipe, stock mufflers, Fuel Moto A\C, SE255 cams & Power Vision. Had the 255's in the garage from an a breif install in the 2007 before going 103" on that bike. The 255's do have "freight train" type TQ, from right off idle till about 4,500 RPM, which is right in my normal riding zone. If i didnt have the 255's already, I'd have gone with the 222's, and maybe still will.
