Im 6-1 & have the 8 inch smoked shield from Fastaire. The stocker looks cool but it is useless, I switched back one day in August, I rode home and changed it back to the 8 inch. Also, you can hear the tunes better with a taller shield.

Hmmm, I still have the stock windshield on the bike and have no problem with it. Just did a 186 miles ride today in the low 50's. I wear a full face helmet in the colder months. On my 91 Heritage with just the windshield and no fairing you get a lot of wind behind that. It's almost like not having a windshield at all. I guess I just love the way the Street Glide looks and rides.

Depends on the helmet you use, or if you use one at all...

I'm 6'1" and the stock windscreen was like someone was sitting behind me shaking my head at 55..
The blast from the wind at 75-80 is a strain on the neck.. Maybe not for younger riders...
Also I came from a long list of Wings... and I'm spoiled to the shield...

Anyway, I went with a 10" Smoked shield... from Harley... think it's 89-99 bux..
Diverts air right over my head... I had thought of a stock clear Ultra shield and add tent to
the lower and get the look of the 5 inch shield, haven't gone there yet...

6'2" and I ride with a stock shield, but a full face helmet. Can get a little bouncy with a beanie or shortie helmet, but I gave up on them because I could not find one that fit. I got a big melon, and I have never found a beanie or a shorty that was as comfy as my Arai Signet. I think it is called a Profile now. Other folks that ride SG's around here, and use beanies or shortie rave about the Cee Bailey, and I have watched riders pass me in light rain sitting there staying dry at speed, so it must create a nice envelope and it looks cool too!

I'm 6' and a 10" screen works best for me. I can easily see over it, but there is no heavy wind buffeting out on the highway. I tried the 4" screen once, I couldn't hear the tunes as well and the buffeting sucked.

6' and only use the 4" shield around town. It does make a differencewith the helmet that you use. I use a Fastaire 9" dark tint for long trips and can see over it no problem and also have a 7" clear for whenever. Can't go wrong with Fastaire. $30. I think. If it gets scratched just toss it and it gives you a chance to see what really works for you.

I'm 6'2" and bought an 8" smoked and 9" clear from Fastaire for $54.00 including shipping. I gave the clear away to someone whose windshield was pitted and threw away the 4" windshield that came with the Streetglide. I thought the 4" was useless and the 8" looks better. Couldn't go more than 60mph with the 4" without a full face helmet. I've hit 95mph with the 8" with a half helmet and felt comfortable. I usually ride 75-80mph so the 95 was a test.

I bought a 4" dark smoke for my '04 EG and liked it during the heat of Atlanta summers; but bought an 8" light smoked for the ride toSturgis last year. I'm 6'1" and wear a 3/4 or full face. The 4" was not a problem with buffeting on 200 mile roundtrip rides, including a fair amount of highway riding; bought the 8" to keep more wind off me and provide more protection in rain. Bought both from an ebay vendor, AmericanThunder, for about $25-40.
